My uncle was in the desert with the 8thArmy.
According to him, a man could find himself on a charge of “Neglect of Duty” should he be so careless as to be less than 100 yards away from the nearest tent, let alone aid station, cookstation, or mess area when he had to lower his trousers.
Apparently, as RS* said in a Vietnam-related post, it was a chargeable offence to allow oneself to become incapacitated through illness. This included coming down with dysentery or the clap.
