Favorite Special Operations Squad

Dont know if I would say the SAS is the best in the world but the diffentatly have the most experience of any Special Forces group in the world.

The classic story about the Seals I remember is the feck up during the Greneda adventure. A whole squad jumped out of their helicopter in a covert insertion, unfortunately they were too high and consequently sank too deep and drowned.

Since when did the Legion Etranger count as special forces? 2eme REP might count as Commando/Ranger equivalents but AFAIK they don’t have any in the specialist “SAS” type role.

Well if that is a true story thats not really the fault of the seals. Do you think all the airborne misdrops in normandy where the fault of the paratroopers?

i def. think they are the best in the world. no doubt in my mind.

and why is the french foriegn legion not sf???

The Foreign Legion is a corps of the French army that jut happens to contain foreigners their selection might be abit tougher than usual but the general role of the various regiments is conventional.

What I meant about the Seals was: all that training and nobody looked down and said to the loady, “Don’t you think we’re a bit high mate?”

They are not SF, but they are “Elite Infantry”. I believe they have an airborne division?

As far as I know they have 2 airborne regiments and not a division!
