Wehrmatch Blooper.
That must hurt…
Yeah, I figure that he’s gonna have quite the bruise on his leg, if it isn’t even broken. My guess is that they were told to stand in the picture and messed up. Maybe even were actors and weren’t used to the artillery recoil…
Normal practice would have been to be standing outside the trail-arm of the mounting when pulling the lanyard.
From the fact of the man remaining within the trails, I’d think either very careless or inept troops, or badly uninformed and ill-prepared actors.

No actors, that was the Frontschau, an series of training videos for the army, not the Wochenschau wich was a weekly newreel for all public.
The spades in the howitzer carriage were not properly deployed, probably the gun was shoot in a hurry.
The soldier belongs to a mountain troops regiment reinforced with a motorized assault gun colum advancing trough caucasus in may 1942.
German SS Soldiers invented the rapper style !!!
To say it more exactly: the Red Army who captured these soldiers invented it for them.
Actually, my understanding of the reversed cap is that it was done to allow a soldier to use the sights on his weapon with more ease. And the German troops weren’t the only ones to do so, though there exist many pictures such as those you show here.
Regards, Uyraell.
You’re right Uyraell, it does help with the aiming when the cap isn’t in your way, but that would only be done in combat/firing situations, not while being lined up and supposedly ‘at attention’.
If you look at them, you can tell they obviously feel rather humiliated by the way they have to stand there…
I encountered these pictures before. These soldiers are indeed POW’s. Furthermore they’re tank- respectively assault gun troops, you can tell by the uniforms. So, no real aiming problems because of the caps. Another strange thing - which can oftenly be seen on photos of German POW’s of the Red Army- is the unusual position of the decorations. Just take a look at the soldier far left in the larger picture. His Iron Cross 1st class almost pierces his Adam’s apple.
I really don’t see what you’re talking about, flamethrowerguy. The Iron Cross of the soldier on the left side is just pierced into his left front pocket, if that’s the one you’re talking about?
As for the shabby look of them: I wouldn’t be surprised if that was a Soviet way of redeeming the ‘German Arrogance’ they felt German troops had, by humiliating them. Some of the uniforms even look like they were taken from smaller/bigger soldiers and put on them…
Alright, alright. It pierces his nipple not his Adam’s apple. Anyway it’s attached way too high.
Another example would be the central guy’s Wounded Badge above the button of the right chest pocket, EK1 on the same place of the left side.
I’ll place another of this kind of pictures soon.
As I said, I’d interpret the whole thing as the Russian guards trying to humiliate the POW for the sake of propaganda (“Look at how these supposedly Superior people stand there, looking pathetic after being defeated by us alleged 'Sub-Humans”) …
The Uniform style of this guy also reminds me in the 1973’s france
comedy movie: Mais où est donc passée la septième compagnie
^That was a funny movie, as is the sequel.
The Dangerous Duo gets lost… XD
Any closer and these two would be all over each other. XP
German “troops” in an M3 halftrack. shakes my head
The pic is obviously from a “send-up”/satire film.
Though I agree, it is funny, in a back-handed way.
Regards, Uyraell.
How man can be humiliated by such a harmless way?
I do understand the himulation when they took the warm clothes and good shoes, grabbing POWs.( it was general practice in the East) then shot it on camera and say - hey take a loke at those slavs subhuman uniform:))
BTW if its’ the way of humiliation on photo- i like it:)
Nice rap-style for former Ubermenshens:)
Just imagine, now the TV stars wear such a style:)
Well, it obviously is a harmless case of humiliation, but its humiliation nonetheless, just the same way it would be humiliating for you if you had to stand in line in your little/big brother’s clothes, with the pants on backwards. It’s not a crime against humanity or anything big, but it still is something.

And the old people hate it…
Just imagine again , how much migh the ww2 be fun if the war crimes have been limited by such humiliations.
And the old people hate it…
But youngs love it pretty well:)
Animal volunteers ,the racial ideology was complete mendacious
cause at the end the Army took everyone as soldier
And could it be that this was the last German WW2 amoured forces???
Thanks
