I think one has to appreciate the situation.

Americans might have had nasty infected jungles :wink: , but the Brits and those of us with the same high standards of pointless discipline that gives a man pride in himself to dress for dinner in a tent in the middle of nowhere washed and shaved every day, so our jungles never got infected.

Although, sad to relate but true, the Brits had worse casualty rates in the Japanese POW camps because their officers didn’t understand and enforce personal hygeine discipline. Probably because Nanny wasn’t there to tell them what to do. :wink:

If you check my picture in the forum faces, I have about two weeks growth, having just returned from the Ulu (not really discernable - indicative of how young I was). The only personal hygiene practised, was cleaning teeth (GS). It was considered too risky to shave as, if one nicked oneself, it might become infected.

I stand corrected. :frowning:
