German WWII songs

As requested, here are the translated “Panzerlied” (5th SS Viking Panzer Div. Interpretation) lyrics:

Whether it storms or snows,
Whether the sun smiles at us,
The Day glowing hot,
Or the night ice gold,
Dirty are the faces,
But happy is our mind,
Is our mind;
[It] races our tank,
By, in a storm.

With thundering engines,
Swift like the [lightening] flash,
Against the enemy,
Protected by the armor.
Ahead of the comrades,
we stand alone in battle.
We stand alone,
So we push deep,
Into the enemy lines.

When in front of us a hostile
Tank finally appears,
We go into full throttle,
And engage the enemy!
Whatever count our lives,
For our Reich’s army?
Yes [our] Reich’s army?
To die for Germany,
Is our highest honor.

With barriers and mines,
The enemy halts us,
We laugh about it,
And don’t drive on them.
And in his anger, he pathetically shakes his hand
Yes, his hand!
We find ourselves ways,
Which nobody found before us.

And if it abandons us,
The unfaithful Fortune,
And should we not return
Back home,
If the deadly bullet hits us,
If fate calls us away,
Yes, fate [calls] away,
Then our tank,
Will be an honorable grave.

Much appreciated Schuultz! (Re: “Panzerlied” lyrics)

Hello, fellow enthusiasts!
I’m very sorry for writing in such old topic. I’ve came here by an accident.
All I want to tell you, that I’m very happy and proud that you liked my “GermanMilitaryMusic” account on YouTube. Unfortunately, with no respect to my non-political statement, the channel has been deleted last week.
I want to thank you all. It’s you, people, who give sense to such projects like GermanMilitaryMusic.

Cheers!
Peter

Edit:
I’m also pretty surprised, that my little channel was known here, on your great and famous forum! It sure is a big reward

It has been deleted? That’s really too bad, what was their reasoning?

I actually really liked your videos, usually high audio quality and nice little clips, and as far as I could tell, you were smart enough to stay away from the illegal songs…

Unfortunately, they never give a reason why they are deleting an account, what is really a disrespect to the account’s owner, in my opinion.
To prove my statement I’ll even say, that GermanMilitaryMusic was my second account on YouTube! I thought about creating a 3rd one, but isn’t it senseless…

Thank you Schuultz, you are most kind! Yes, I tried to provide as best quality as possible, and what was my main goal, to make people not confuse Soldatenlieder - soldier songs - with propaganda songs, such as “Horst Wessel Lied” or “Das Hakenkreuzlied”.
And yes, you are right, I haven’t uploaded any of those illegal songs

It feels pretty bad - I have all of those clips and music ready, but no page to upload them. Now that’s an irony.
Cheers!
Peter

I was wondering why my book about the German paratroopers was called “Red shines the sun”,now I know!
Also I thought it was quite amusing that some German operation where named after songs: Frühlings Erwachen ,Die Wacht am Rhein…
Is there any other songs used in German military operation?
Sorry if it’s slightly off-topic.

“Mondscheinsonate” comes to my mind. But usually they prefered code names of the more menacing kind (plus colours and given names).

P.S. Zierer’s “Rot schien die Sonne” was a good read.

Somebody must have been a romantic in O.K.W!

My book is from Eric Queen, same title but different author it seems.Good book also.More about pictures than unit history though.

If Heintje were singing during the War Years, the Germans would have won the war. Man, his songs are powerful. Heintje Rules!

Hello, Friends!

I am a stubborn bastard, I know  I am starting again, you can find me here

Channel is pretty bare right now, because I want to upload everything as fast as possible, so not to worry, everything will be on it’s place. Even while I was fully controlling comments, I’m not sure about them now - maybe disabling them (?)

I guess this channel will end like it’s ‘brothers’, but hell, why not give it a try.
Wish me luck, mates!

Cheers!
Peter

Good luck, buddy.

Yeah, maybe it’s a good idea to disable comments, and don’t forget to distance yourself from the songs and state in the description that it’s for historical purposes.

Thanks mate!

Yes of course, I will do my best to keep videos and channel free from political aspects.

If Heintje was around during WW-2, then I am sure the German army would have won the war,…for their Mama:)

You’re repeating yourself, herman…

A Techno remix of “Vorwaerts” or “Kameraden, die Granaten” I made.

(in the Anime itself)

Das Engellandlied from Hellsing

Obviously, the ending has been changed in the German version.

Hello dear Friends, been ages!

Once again I apologize for waking up such an old thread, but I think this one is the most appropriate. Perhaps some of you remember my old YouTube channels, such as RPzB39 or GermanMilitaryMusic. After a long “break” I have decided to give it one more try.
You can find me on YouTube as user/RPzB40

As you may see, this account is intact since April 2010, and I’m happy (yet shocked) to say, that none of my videos got deleted. Considering it as my little motivation, I’ve changed my uploading strategy a little. And so, now you can find whole albums on my channel, not only “random” songs. From Landsknecht songs (Wilde Gesellen album) to “Bekannte Soldatenlieder folge 1, 2, 3”.
I hope you, my Friends, are still interested in some nice military music and I, as a German, am proud to show some of my country’s history to you. Open minded and enthusiastic people like you are my biggest reward and motivation

As a rare guest (and a busy man) I want to already wish whole ww2incolor community a calm Christmas time, and everything wonderful in incoming year 2011. Prost!!

With best regards,
Peter

You’re quite far eastwards for a German, aren’t you? How come?

@flamethrowerguy:
Correct. At the moment I’m living abroad. I’ve moved here from Hamburg, for both family and business reasons

Thank you. I’ve finished uploading the “Grüne Teufel” album.
If some of you have requests for any songs, you can always give me a note and I’ll upload them (as long as those won’t be propaganda songs).

With best regards,
Peter
