i agree with you about the crosswords. And i also think that anybody was killed by some little effort. For your information, i’m Italian and, since i’m not an expert in computer science, i don’t use any machine or program to translate. So, i take the responsability upon all the blunders and the grammar mistakes… :oops:
I’m just telling you these things, in order to let you know that English isn’t my mother language and i can’t handle it the same way i use Italian, of course. And this, sometimes, may create some misunderstanding or incomprehensions. Do you have an idea about the troubles generated by poor or bad translations, during the hundreds of years of history, between parts that didn’t speak the same language? If you don’t own a language, you can’t even esteem and grasp “the nuances of speech” (like you call them). Anyway, keep on post your comments, ideas or thoughts. They are welcome. I’ll do my best to understand and, in case of failure, i’ll make you know… Take care of you.
The Cannoli of the picture you posted seem Cannoli alla Siciliana (that means Cannoli that came from Sicily island). These are one of my favourite sweet. It is a greedy trade-off between sweet and favoury. Infact the white stuff is ricotta cream.
(ricotta is a kind of cottage cheese).

First off all this is my first post here. I was surfing on the internet and found this webpage. As a WW2
intrested person… and war in general. It is a previlage to get to know this forum. Why ? whe must not forget the past… because the past is one of the stones of the future.
Oke… in general…
I think hitler… or better said… hitler and his staf had made multiple mistakes.
First off all… germany gambled on taking poland in his ‘blitzkrieg’… but in fact… there was no speach of blitzkrieg in this stage of the war… only a small percentage of the wehrmacht had motorised infantry & tanks… the rest was on foot, with bicicles or with horse and chariot.
When they gambled on taking poland first… france dit declare war togheter with the other ally’s… but dit not engage Germany & vice versa.
This period on the western front is caled as the famous ‘Sitzkrieg’. they just waited and waited… to A) sign a treathy and to evade a second world war. AS b) lack of intel of the forces on the German side.
As the poland campagn was over… they rushed the forces towards france, belgium & holland. To start operation Fall Gelb.
In this period the first blitzkrieg movement was made by the famous Heinz Guderian & Rommel. Those commanders ignored orders to wait until the infantry could form up…
but they instidet to march on with the spearhead… punching true lines of decenfe of france… They where ordered by HITLER himself to HALT before … indead… Duinkerke (dunkerque). Where the british expediton force coult withdraw…
So if hitler was in that fase not dum… they could overwelmed the british forces easely!
In that stage… hitler and his staf made the mistake of engaging poland to early… with to few troops at the western front… so if france was able to detect this and acted more agresivly… the war would be ended a lot sooner!
AS for duinkerke (dunquerke) hitler made a second big mistake by halting the troops.
AND then… the bigest mistake of all… engaging USSR in a later stadium of the war.
In fact more answers are possible in this treath… but most critical in the early stage is that germany was nog on full strength when they engaged.
For example:
Lack of long range bombers & fighter cover
Lack of a larger Kriegsmarine (boats that they had where good, but to few to turn the tide on the Britisch Navy) The only thing they could to and dit was to use those ships to occupy the navy and STRETCH them thinner out… so the britisch navy dit not had the option to use full power at the north sea.
The u-boats where logicly the only option for germany.
As for the wehrmacht there was a LOT of work to be done… more thanks… more trucks, guns… bla bla bla…

I think Not preparing for the war properly was the biggest mistake, and meddling in the affairs of his generals was catastophic. If they prepared properly, they could very well have won the war, and if he took out Britain, America would have a hard time doing an impact (no airbases for bombing, and the US Marines, if they attempted to make a landing on the other side of the Atlantic…well, they would be squashed…)
Hitler’s biggest mistake was not pursuing a career in art or paper hanging.
Forming an alliance with Mussolini.

Hitler’s invasion of Russia was a big mistake.Perhaps he should have learned from Napoleon’s escapade.

All in Hitler’s mind was aiming for the east. Expecting him not to invade Russia while winning in the West is like expecting a hypothetical Romney to continue a “New Deal dirigist” policy.
If hitler had orderd a amphibious invasion of britain instead of a bombing campaign they would of crushed them. Thus they would of had more forces and resources and as fanatic1944 said they could not make a move on Germany. But the Russians werent exactly in a weak state they just did not expect the germans to break it which in all truth why Germany had blunged its war machine so deep into Russia so fast. If Germany had secured the russian oil fields they would of easily won as the Russians oil field could easily feed the german war machine against any other enemy such as the United Stated. It was thanks to Hitler in my opinion that Germany lost the war in the first place he ****ed up so many times.
