A fire suppression system appears to have been set off somehow, flooding a compartment with inert gas and asphyxiating a number of those inside. IIRC 17 of the 20 are dockyard workers rather than naval personnel.
Oh, and the submarine was being refitted prior to being transferred to India on long-term lease…
I hope the Indians think about the sub they’re receiving. I’m sure they don’t want the same thing to happen…
I wouldn’t be surprised if there was in fact a fire and commander decided to kill those 20 to save the rest of the crew.

I heard there were a special Oxygen gas-mask exaclty for such a case for every man of crew ( if the fire suppression system starts to flood the Freon). Those people simply have not used the mask , by the strgange reason.
One of two- or they did no have enough time to use the mask , or there were no enought masks for all members of crew.

Well, we’ve sort of gotten away from the awards thing a bit since it’s not exactly a point a great enthusiasm of the current mod staff as some of us had to sort of be told to display our medals. But there are several deserving members, and everyone recently posting in this thread, that deserve some sort of award. As much as I would like to dispense of them myself, I feel we need some sort of mod/senior admin consultation on how to go about this. Be patient.
