See? Vulgarity is not a matter of continents.
It would appear that the statue is unimpressed by the parade as it is not saluting.
Maybe it just misread the order “Present arms!”.

To the extent that it remains standing (and I use ‘standing’ only in the sense of the military order) at ease.
Let’s see: Panzer IV, black tunics on the tankers, Ukraine, 1942?
Sorry no .You are in the right general area though if that makes sense :).The year you are off by 1.
Note :DFTG and RS you guys crack me up
After having handled the first shock about the dick statue I come to the conclusion that the photo shows the German advancement into the Yugoslavian capitol of Belgrade, the building in the back should be the Parliament. Concerning the date I’d say it’s between April 12 and 17, 1941.
Excellent work FTG my source says April 12.The general saluting is General von Kleist.Your turn;)
Darn it! I was doing a timeline in my head of countries occupied by Germany and completely forgot Yugoslavia, oh well.
Contemptible Nazis invade Britain; overwhelm Dad’s Army http://www.dadsarmy.co.uk/ ; and humiliate Captain Mainwaring
by shaving off his moustache and making him wear a silly hat while taunting him in a German car.
Seriously, is the man getting out of or into the car a religious official?
A monk, bishop, cardinal, or whatever?
Exactly, “archabbot” would be the exact nomenclature. And he’s being helped into the car.
Monte Cassino, Italy, around November 1943?
Yes, but a bit later!
In the photo General von Senger (devoted catholic), helps Archabbot Diamare to enter the car that will be take him to Rome on 18th February 1944 (after the famous allied bombing action).
Nice photo!
TRG
RS* was right about the location, Tiger205 came up with the correct date and background.
Guess we got a draw…
Let the captain send the next picture, I was late a bit!
TGR
(IRL I’m a captain, so I respect the rank differences )
Thanks to FTG’s clue I’d worked out it was probably, or more accurately only possibly, the Archabbot leaving Monte Cassino, but I had no idea when so I just went for about the same time as the library etc left.
Tiger 205 had much better knowledge than me and correctly identified the people in the photo; the date; and what was happening.
I didnt’ get the ‘when’ part right but Tiger did, so he got the correct answer and it’s his turn.
(Rank has its privileges but on this forum, unlike a real army, colonels stealing credit from subordinates for their correct answers ain’t one of them. :D)
Thank you sir for the opportunity, (with some topicality)
