Me too. 3 years running as a tenor drummer with the No1 Bomber Group Pipes and Drums. Happy days!
This has gone quiet. Maybe I can resurrect it?
Just like to add, the knowledge of some people on this forum astounds me!
Agree. This thread used to be a funny place where it was possible to show the knowledge of most of the members of the Forum, in a funny and friendly way. Vopo, if you posted a puzzle which one is the picture? The one with the three soldier or the one with the standing soldier? Thanks for your resurrection attempt…
Oh, I’ve seen this before. It’s a Korean soldier who was captured and fought for the Japanese, was captured and fought for the Soviet Union, was captured and fought for Germany on the Western front. I’ll have to see if I can find more information.
skorzeny57, the one with the korean soldier in german uniform. I’ve spent almost an hour reading through this post, bloody amazing how people know units and were they were at what date
Spot on navyson, know the date/place?
You’re right, Vopo… Some of the members of the Forum are extraordinary in knowledge, about uniforms, units, flags, equipments, places and dates. As far i concerned my best allied in this thread is Mr. Google… Sometimes you have to hurry and you don’t have lot of time… Enjoy.
ps - Interesting story, navyson.
Yang Kyoungjong and his is a truly bizarre story.
Forcibly conscripted by the Japanese then captured by the Russians, spent time in POW camp then along with other prisoners he was conscripted again to fight the Germans only to be caught by the Germans sent to another POW camp and again with other POWs he was conscripted into a Wehrmacht eastern battalion to serve in France.
Sorry for going off topic there.
skorzeny57 gotta agree with you there
Downwithpeace. Yep, has to be one of my favorite stories. I read that he was a member of the laborers making the Atlantic wall, and was one of the first to be captured on Dday. Anyone got any photos to upload? I wanna go at guessing one
