I read the history of the 12th SS Pz a few years ago and I don’t remember anything about them being in Holland. I think they trained in Belgium but not Holland. Can anyone correct me on this? Nice photo.
This photo was indeed taken in Belgium on the division’s march exercise to the Oostende area at the Belgian North Sea coast, winter 1943/44. Flemish and Dutch architecture is quite similar, that’s why this series of photos is oftenly mistaken with Holland. The commander of the tank in the front (6th Company/SS-Panzer-Regiment 12) is SS-Unterscharführer Heinz Berner.
