12th SS Uniforms??

Hi Guys

Im about to start a modeling project, for the WW2 tabletop game “Flames of War”.
And i want to build a Hitler Jugend (12th SS) Panzergrenadier company.
I´ve been looking at a lot of great pictures on this site, but im still in doubt about their uniforms!
To me it looks like they were primarily using the peadot pattern camouflage, but can anybody in here please confirm that??? :)… Or tell me if i am mistaken!!

Cheers Andy.

No, you’re right. The major part of them wore uniforms in peadot pattern but I’m sure I saw several photos of HJ soldiers wearing some captured Italian camo stuff as well. Will look for photos of those.

Here’s one from Normandy in colour:

As you can see the soldier on the left is wearing Italian camo (M1929, “telo mimetico”), the right one has a smock in Rauchtarn-Muster (blurred edge, spring version).

Thanks mate!
So i can easily paint them in a “mitch-match” of different Camouflage patterns! (But mostly the peadot pattern).

The M43 ‘Peadot’ pattern was only used to manufacture trousers, tunics and tank crew overalls. It wasn’t used for smocks, helmet covers or zeltbahnen.
