3rd US "Old Guard" Infantry

The 3rd US Infantry Regiment is the oldest active infantry regiment in the US Army, dating back to 1784. Their current duties are to serve ceremonial purposes, and to guard the US Capitol. Ceremonial duties include escorting the President, marching in parades, etc. In addition, hand picked members of the Old Guard recieve the honor of guarding the Unknown Soldiers buried at Arlington National Cemetery. They must meet certain requirements for that, such as being from 5"7’ to 6"3’, have a 30’ waist, an unblemished military record, etc. So feel free to discuss.

I am surprised they can get away with that be that the US is so PC.

The Military really isn’t PC. They won’t except kids that take Ritalin…

I once saw Old Guard members drilling when I was in the Army… They were tossing back and forth an old 1903 Springfield rifle like a baton —with a bayonet on the end!
