40th Waffen SS Division

Formed on 1/4/45 in the chaos of the collapsing Reich, barely Regimental strength it was formed from various training unts including the cooks and cleaners from Goring’s "Karinhall ", bandsmen from Goebbels various propaganda units, some Luftwaffe ground crew and Waffen SS Officer cadets. Formed into a Regiment of four battalions, 3 Grenadier and one Panzer (which was only really a company) equipped with a combination of Panzer I’s and II’s which had been re furbished by the mechanics of the 2nd Battalion.

Led by it’s Commander Leutnant Gruber (who’s command vehicle was an Sdkfz 222) it was committed to the Western Front around Nouvion where it dissapeared, records are sketchy at best the only real link I can find is.
