Looking to copy any photos of the German Kaserne in Wurzburg / Kitzingen prior, during, or after WWII. I am especially interested in what was the American Emery Kaserne - which may have been the Adolf Hitler Kaserne and anything about the standup, operations, personalities of the 4th Pz Division. I know ther are a few books, but I’m trying to get copies of photos, maps, documents of the time. Thank you.
Hi,
Refer to this article for the 4th Panzer Division: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4th_Panzer_Division_(Wehrmacht)
Here are some pics from the area, including one 1970s US Emery and an interseting pic from the hospital run by US 107th EVAC Hospital showing the WW2 German Eagle made “American”.

Thank you. I have checked those sights and they were both very informative. I am looking for more personal and detailed data on top of what I’ve gathered. As a young Captain in Germany, I was too busy doing things to really stop and look around my area. Now, with great regret and poor timing, I am really interested as to how the 4th Pz stood up Wurzburg before they deployed to the Eastern Front. Missed a golden opportunity. again, I appreciate your help. The hunt continues!
You’re welcome. I think the best way is to dig into the city archives of Wurzburg itself. Maybe you can pay a visit in a nice summer holiday to south Germany. It is a nice place. By the way, do you know that Wurzburg holds the laboratories of Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen who discovered here the X-Rays? But staying into the topic of the forum, Wurzburg is as well the birth place of Gen. Alfred Jodl and also of the infamous SS Oberfuhrer Dr. Oskar Dirlewanger.
