That small caliber gun was not much of a threat to a T-34.

To increase the dismal performance of the PAK 36 against Soviet armor a Stielgranate 41 15 cm., 8.5 kilogram, fin-stabilized projectile was introduced. Resembling a large rifle grenade, it had a maximum range of 800 meters. However due to its low velocity, it was effective only to about 300 meters but capable of destroying any Allied armored vehicle.
