Are you woof or a woofa?

After graduating last summer, my daughter worked for six months in order to earn enough money to travel about Europe. She is currently working on an organic farm in the Netherlands. By registering with the World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms, she is able to work for her food and board until she is ready to move on. After a month in Holland, she intends to spend a month in the south of France and then several months in Italy, which I think she considers her spiritual home – vineyards and olive groves :).

Farmers that sign up to host these travellers (Woofas) are considered Woofs. Until my daughter mentioned this to me, I had never heard of the organisation…but what a terrific way to see the world.

I was wondering if anyone new of any similar organisations?

Here’s a little information on WWOOF:

Never heard of that before.
Although it sounds very hippie-ish or Kibbuzim-like to me, the organisation seems to be serious - telling by the homepage and the general web feedback.
Anyway, as father of a young woman I’d be -let’s say- a little worried. But that’s just me, the leery person I am.

I thought it was really excellent idea, until I re-read your post and realised that the Dutch don’t actually run orgasmic farms. :frowning:

Try Amsterdam

It’s what you make of it.
