Assassination attempt in Warsaw

Just a week after Warsaw had capitulated to the Germans on 29th of September 1939, the Nazis planned to organize victory parade in polish capital - on 5th of October. Adolf Hitler was supposed to salute the troops personally from the platform.
Polish resistance also had a plan. Maj. Franciszek Niepokólczycki put 500 kg of TNT on the corner of Jerozolimskie Avenue and Nowy Świat Street (Hitler’s planned route). Unfortunately, bomb wasn’t detonated. Till today it remains unclear for historians, what caused the failure.
I wonder what would happend later, if Maj. Niepokólczycki had killed Adolf Hitler?

A while ago I posted similar thread here:

Let’s resuscitate this discussion. I hope WWII in Color will be more elaborate!

I think it would be great for the Nazis for hitler to die.

  1. Increase citizen’s morale

  2. If hitler is gone, maybe the allies would have been wiped out and germany air force would not been switch their focus on bombing british military airfield.

  3. I am not sure about this, but maybe if hitler is gone earlier than OTL, that means the 6th army might not be trapped in Stalingard

  4. Me-262 would not be used as a bomber instead of a fighter plane

  5. the new leader would never ever send erwin rommel to north africa and leave him with no reinforcement.

hehe, I like this one FW.

As i remember , it were at last 26 attempts to kill the Hitler since 1925 to 1944.
Certainly Gemany politic was a resault of the personal devil’s character of Hitler.
Becouse all the German national-socialism was based in this person. Just he determined the war politic of Germany. As it know today german generals were mostly agains the attacking the Europe.
But Hitler ordered them. Also Barbarossa was the resault of Hitler’s initiative.

German generals may well have taken power from the Nazis and then formed a military junta. It’s been said that there were always factions out to get Hitler early on, but they were the victims of his initial successes such as the conquest of France for example.

Hitler seems to have had somebody watching over him, very lucky man. Hitler’s death would almost certainly have put a faction of the Wehrmacht in power. The war would have continued in Europe and maybe the Nazis would have succeeded with better military decisions being made. Maybe Hitler’s death would have been a good thing for the Nazis, he was great politician but not so great as military tactician.
