saw a real oddity a couple years ago. looked like a m43 grenade but with a brown waffle pattern bakelite head. it was made like looking at a waffle iron , ribs out , seemingly for reinfocment not fragmentation. it had a 3 letter manufacturing code. would have liked to have brought it home but my previous try at something like that almost landed me in jail! Any one heard of anything like this?
Wait, how did you almost end up in jail, did you try to steal it!? But for the grenade part, I’m afraid that I have no idea what you are talking about but it seems interesting.
I’m guessing you encountered a Gas grenade. German practice was to use plastics/bakelites in such application, whereas Allied practice was, in general, thin-walled but smooth exterior egg-grenades.
