Bastogne remembered

on 12-13-08 the town of Bastogne, Belgium remembers the horrific dec 44 battle. 16 December 1944 – 25 January 1945 including a re enactment. I won’t go into details as this historic battle has been discussed

fighting each other and horrible winter weather as the death toll rises.

BTY the town has a nickname. “nuts city” for the famous reply to surrender from General Tony McAuliffe. I never knew that

sitting here in my warm home with snow and freezing temps outside I can’t even feature nor imagine the horrific sacrifice’s that was made here. a salute to them all - both sides

Haha, I hope picture two was a modern reenactment, because otherwise I didn’t know they had that particular model of Alfa-Romeo in 1944!

I had the chance to do a little tour around Bastogne with my dad last summer.
The museum in Bastogne is simply first class and I would advise anybody in the vicinity to pop in and see for themselves. Also in the same area,Diekirch (Lux) is also really good although a bit more messy.La Gleize is also worth a look.
The map posted by the O.P is really interesting. Thanks!
