Great stuff Fw-190. So basically the BBC radio what if talked about the invasion of Britian by Germany. I seemed to gather that they concluded that if the RAF lost the battle of Britain, then operation sealion will have occured. A similiar discussion has taken place elsewhere but maybe we can start a new discussion about Operation Sealion and would it ever have taken place even if the RAF lost?
A superb “what if” universe based on almost exactly that premise (coup by Lord Halifax leading to a Vichy-style regime in the UK) can be found here. Highly recommended (start with The Big One and then read through the rest in any particular order you like), but there is a heck of a lot of it. The thing is Stuart used to targeteer nuclear weapons for a living, and now analyses naval systems for Forecast International so his work has a believability to it that is otherwise almost universally lacking in such alt-hist works.
