This is not an “issue” but a suggestion.
Could a thread be made under “other wars” for the Anglo Boer War and all threads placed in one area?
I believe it was a War that highlighted many lessons in both military strategy and law.
It is the war in which the following came into their own:
Trench warfare - first used by the Boers.
Attacks on logistical lines and support rather than exclusively on the point of the spear. This changed strategy and was probably the start of “mobile warfare”.
It was a strangely diverse war with a “combined force” on either side, for example an Irishman Captain Jack Hindon was one of the Boers best fighters. Some people who were executed as “Boers” were in fact English.
During the war the term “commando” was first used.
Concentration camps.
The use of 10000 block houses by the British to restrict the movement of Boers.
