On 13-14 oct 1942 The japanese battleships Kongo and Haruna fire an estimated 973 shells of 12 and 14inch at american positions on the canal.are there any other instances of allied troops receiving fire from a capital ships?
There may have been some fire support from BB for the landings on Luzon in Dec 1941. I’m unsure if there was any for the landings in Burma or Dutch Indonesia. The Japanese practice was to assign that task to destroyers and crusiers.
I think the Tokyo express ran 24/7
I think he meant battleships. The crusier and destroyer attacks on Henderson Field were fairly regular in October and November. I’ll check & see if there were any other battleships attacks @ Guadacannal.
