by March 1944 there was a lull in the island fighting in the Pacific. Guadalcanal had been secured in Feb 1943, Tarawa in November 43 and the Marshalls by February 44. The next step was the Marianas. There was fighting in the upper Soloman islands and New Guinea, the ultimate goal being the return to the Phillipnes. These men in this photo appear to be US Army personel.- where I can only imagine… Thanks
