Rumour has it that the Syrians left some IVs behind on the Golan Heights after the 6 day war. You could pick one up for free, but the towing costs would be pretty heavy

Syrians supposedly sold few of their PzKpfw IVs to Cubans before the overthrow of Batista by Castro in 1958, but it is unconfirmed. Few of Syrian PzKpfw IVs were captured by Israelis at the Golan Heights (dug in as bunkers) and one is on display at the Museum of Armored Forces at Latrun, Israel.

Syrian Panzerkampfwagen IV in USA
It is believed that this Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf H/J (hybrid) was captured by the Russian Mongols of the Red Army in Czechoslovakia and then it was eventually sold to Syria by Czechoslovakia. In 1967, it was captured by the Israelis at the Golan Heights and eventually put on display in the museum in Latrum along with Sturmgeschutz III Ausf G and other PzKpfw IV Ausf H. It was then traded to the Mattituck American Armoured Museum on Long Island for an other vehicle (Stuart) in the museum’s collection.

Note the “Schutzen” additional armour plates to pre-detonate hollow charges. These were factory installed on the Ausf G.

Good info George, in other sources I ve read that the sirians tanks were former spanish army vehicles.
Thanks Panzerknacker.
That is what the description said for the below picture from my previous post:

Yes, it seems that I overlook that caption, The spanish panzer IV were 12 or 24, I dont remember is this moment but I see some pictures of those parading in Madrid.
I spotted a Pz IV ausf H for sale today.
We’d popped into White Gate Garage looking for a new car for Mrs FB, and I saw the very panzer you were after. Sadly, it had been sold that morning so we missed it only by a few hours.
It was a '42 on a “G” plate, 36,000 miles, FSH, power steering, air con, single CD, alloy roadwheels and low profile tracks, in Metallic Panzer Grey (but it had a respray), nacht und nebel lights, one careful lady owner, taxed and tested, always garaged, never raced although it had been rallied a couple of times at Nuremburg, complete with a full tank of fuel and some dealer footmats.
I thought it was mint, but Mrs FB who has a better eye for these things thought it a bit grumble, possibly a crocodile in the past but at least it wasn’t two different tanks welded together and bodged up with a bit of filler.
If I see another one, I’ll let you know.
Nuremburg rally ROFL!!! Good one!
ok, looking for a Pz KfwIV. figure on spending around $100,000. at least. lots of T55s online, generally around $30,000 in running good to excellent condition. but hard to find panzers. I did find a T34 which had been modified to look like a PzIV for a movie. anyone have any good “tank for sale” links?
Mod’s note: Merged these two related threads and renamed thread title:
Wanted: Pzkw III or IV (from 2006 archive room) and Buy a tank? (The German Military)
Just want to know; how much would a panzer cost including shipping/handling?
PS why not use google earth to find panzers in the Syrian Desert?
Seen a t55 modified to look like tiger 1 on utube and it was for sale if thats any good.
From a distance it look ok but u would have to look for yourself.
Maybe you can ask Jacques Littlefield - check out some of his massive collection of armored vehicles at the following website:
BZ’s 2007 Littlefield Tank Collection - Photo Gallery - California

http://home.comcast.net/~bzee1b/tank2/tanks2.html
These are some pictures … at a tour of the Littlefield tank collection.
Some people collect cards, others collect cars…Jacques Littlefield collects TANKS! Nestled quietly in the Palo Alto Hills, his impressive collection of armored vehicles would put most museums to shame!
Presented here are just a small sample of his massive collection. Some are displayed as acquired, others are restored to running order, and a very few are rebuilt from the ground up to be better than new!
The first few pictures are of a Panther tank that is in the semi-final stages of restoration. Every detail, from the rubber on the roadwheels, to the interior wiring and electronics, have been painstakingly reproduced to be 100% authentic. It’s no boast when they claim that the tank will be indistinguishable from ‘factory new’. Well, with the exception that none of the guns work…
All shots taken w/ a Nikon D50 w/ Nikkor 15-55mm (kit) lens.
Update: Added some additional captions and corrections from Manic Moran, and Holger (BigGrizzly@gmx.de). Both provided great info and useful tidbits. A big thanks to both of them!
