Captured British PIAT

A Waffen-SS soldier armed with a British PIAT.(ruderrude)

It is. However I doubt that this is a Waffen-SS soldier, his smock looks like “Splittertarn” pattern to me. Photo is officially described as a weapons’ exhibition to Adolf-Friedrich Kuntzen, commanding General of 81st Armeekorps, Etreta/Northern France in May 1944.

It may have been a valuable weapon, but the recoil was huge (unlike the Bazooka, Panzerschreck and Panzerfaust, the PIAT used a heavy spring to launch the projectile) so it was not always a pleasure to operate it.
