The Chinese bought the stuff from Germany and this included 17 Panzer I’s. There are more photo’s here and even possibly details of the engagement they were captured in.
Captured? Weren’t they supposed to be “allied” (even though the Tripartite Pact between Berlin, Rome and Tokyo was signed only in late 1940)? Could it be some kind of lend-lease (Axis style)?
I know the Chinese Army got some German motorbikes, don’t know about tanks though.
