How about requiring an email address on a new registration and pinging it as part of the validation process, and requiring it to be accessible to all members so we can deluge it with spam?
It won’t stop some crooked registrations, but it will get rid of a few.
It would get rid of a lot more if hotmail, yahoo etc email addresses weren’t recognised.
Some parents dont want their children’s Emails released on the net. That might discourage some genuinly interested people from coming in.
Unfortunately not everyone can afford access to a non-free-webmail account (I’m thinking particularly of an Indian friend of mine who can’t get access to Stardestroyer.net for this very reason).
A young fellow I work with has checked out here and other sites and would like to join, but his mum doesn’t like giving out the email address.
