Coastal Command attacks
On 23 November 1943 a force of 23 Beaufighters from Nos 236 and 254 Squadrons, escorted by Spitfires, attacked a southbound convoy off Texel on the Dutch coast. This dramatic shot was taken as the first of two torpedoes slammed into the largest ship in the convoy, a 7,000-ton tanker, breaking its back. IWM photo Greetz, brummbar
