(Long time lurker first time poster here)
I’m looking for information on Soviet pilots during the 1960’s, especially those responsible for dropping atomic weapons if war broke out.
I’m keen to access official information such as their planned orders if WW3 broke out in the early 1960s… eg: Where would they take off from? What route would they fly to? What was the procedure of orders? What were their planned targets? I’ve seen similiar British plans etc so I presume the Soviet Union had plans as well.
More importantly however I’d like to hear some personal stories of former Soviet aircrew who wouldve been responsible for dropping atomic weapons if the cold war did become hot.
Can anyone reccomend any good websites, books or even know former Soviet aircrew I could contact?
