Colonel Puaud and his soldiers

Colonel Edgar Puaud, commander of the "Legion des Volontaires Francaises contre le Bolchevisme" (L.V.F.) greets his soldiers. Bryansk/Russia, 1943. Puaud later became commander of the 33rd Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS „Charlemagne“ (französische Nr. 1) holding the rank of an SS-Oberführer. His fate after 1945 is uncertain, some sources report that he was seen in a Soviet NKVD uniform shortly after the end of the war in Eastern Germany.
