Crash in Switzerland

The tail of USAAF's Boeing B-17G letter "H", serial number 42-31552, of 748 Bomb Squadron, 457th Bombardment Group (Heavy), based in England, crashed, 12 July 1944, in Swiss mountains, at Schlappintal, in Canton of Grigioni, on return from a mission over Munich. The entire crew was killed. The 12 July 1944 was a bad day for 457th BG: trhe aircraft lost, five damaged, 27 crew members killed or missed in action. In the same day another American bomber, a B-24H Liberator, crashed in Swizterland. Victor Sierra
