Disturbing picture...dont look if you can't handle horror of war

I’ll post this one as a link. Someone uploaded a photo showing a flattened Russian soldier in the mud after several German vehicles ran him over. They had no time to move him and give him a proper burial. Or, at least that’s what the caption says.

P.S> If you guys haven’t been checking the front page of this site, you are missing out on some great photo submissions.

wow! How intense. Photos like that remind us war really is about people dying in very sad ways. I’ve got a great black and white shot from Ken Burns book The War I’ll have to upload that is similar, if I can figure out how to do it so you have to link to it.

My granddad saw the same in Moldova - a German soldier’s corps on a road… it was in 1944.

Up to this day I still remember and can not erase from my memory the spectacle that can be seen only in a war: a German soldier’s corps was squashed on the asfalt, presumably by the heavy tanks during the offensive. The corps was flatened by the passing trucks. Nobody cared to take him away from the road. There was no hindrance to the traffic, but the sight was horrific!

War is cruel guys, it never was and never will be nice and neat.

i agree with you HG

peace for all…

TOUGH PICTURE!

Photos like this bring home the harsh reality.

The most awful photos I’ve seen are of the civilian victims of the Hamburg raids.

More and more of these graphic photos are being included in the latest books.

I saw pictures in a book the bombing of dresden, and horrible pictures in this book few meter tall “bone and meat human sandwiches”
These are tough pictures, war is always sh*t

German Landser Corpse In Russia 1940

I guess it’s a blessing in disguise color photography wasn’t popular back then.

It’s photos like these that make you realize your paper cut doesn’t fucking hurt that bad. Thanks for posting these, I don’t go out of my way to look at photos like these very often, but it helps to keep in perspective the true horror of something most of us will never understand.

Right, so much for the “romantic” part of war. Heros’ death on blooming meadows, Hurrah and the sound of fanfares. But in the end even these horrible pictures can’t show anyone who did not live through something like this, the real horror including sights, smells and sounds…

flamethowerguy:the second&third was brutal

Agreed. Thankfully, I assume, we will never know what it was truly like to be somewhere like the Hurtgen Forest, or in the Battle of the Bulge, but these pictures do serve as an efficient reminder that for every picture you see of a victorious soldier standing on top of a tank, there were far more pictures of people blown apart or sliced in two.

What about the russian, imi? It’s a tough one too, isn’t it? The admin did not want me to upload it into the “dramatic photos” section a couple of months ago…

That’s weird, unless I’m completely missing something that’s easily the least unpleasant of the photos in this thread.
