I hope someone can help me. I was reading a book and came across an old picture, and my entire family thinks I’m crazy but I think one of the soldiers in the picture is my dad. It’s a very old pic, the faces are not very clear and there are no names of soldiers, and I’m not sure what my dad’s battalion was, but here’s a description. Biazza Ridge Sicily, July 11, 1943, the soldiers are taking the picture on a captured Tiger Tank. The book is Combat Jump, if anyone knows the names of the soldiers I would love to hear from you, Thank you.

Official military photos had to have a caption for each image, the caption may contain the names of the people, though its not guaranteed. you might contact the writer, or publisher to see if there was a caption. you’ll need to give complete info, book title, edition if more than one, page number, and a description of the image. If the image is courtesy of some other entity, you may want to contact them as well. Wish I could be of more help.

A word to the wise: When writing an author, or a publisher, etc, your odds of getting a response go up considerably if you include a postage-paid, self-addressed envelope with your letter. If you don’t include such, your odds of a response tend towards nil.
