Donald Weisel died on June 6, 1944 on Omaha Beach

My Uncle Donald Weisel died on June 6, 1944 on Omaha Beach. He was nearly cut in half by a German Machine gun. He asked his buddy to get his photo of his wife Betty out of his pocket and died holding their wedding photo.

I have posted the photo he was holding it is on this site somewhere. He fought through North Africa and Italy and saw a great deal of action. My own father who was at Hickam on 12/7/1941 always felt badly because Donald had come through so much before this.

We all owe him a huge debt of gratitude.
