I think the tank in the background, is a PzKW-III Ausf. N. That would date the picture after 1942.

I think you are right Huijgens. The hull roofline, return roller spacing, turret front undercut, gun installation, turret stowage bin installation and mantlet shape all differ from the PzKw IV.

All those identification features of PzKw III are right, but the easiest one to spot is the two-angle upper glacis.
