What was a typical meal for american WW2 front soldiers anyway. I remember the early 80’s when we kids changed food with the maneuvring G.I.s. I gave them stuff my mother cooked for them and they gave me “Chicken a la king”, “Baked beans in tomato sauce” and salty crackers with peanut butter. They couldn’t stand it anymore but we kids loved it.
BTW, common meals for german WW2 soldiers were “noodle soup with beef” and “goulash with noodles” and of course pea mulligan (at least when supply was still intact).
