Fraud- Pvt Philpott

You need to correct your caption and discussion paragraph regarding the Elbe Day photo of American 69th shaking hands with the 58th Rifle Guard of the 1st Russian (actually Ukrainian) Front.

Specifically, Pvt Philpott’s regiment was not at Torgau that Day, he was in Leipzig. He carried on the fraud as an impostor for decades, basically guilty of stolen honor as now a revealed imposter when he wrote a book, and pulled the wool over the 69th Infantry Association, until after the 63rd anniversary of the event. In actuality, It was Bernard Kirschenbaum not Philpot (tall 2nd from left).

Please correct this, check which regiment both were assigned and locations that day—-I did, and revealed the fraud Philpot carried on, but not until AFTER he even went to a Moscow celebration and meet the statesmen (and Mrs L Bush).

Your welcome,
Jeff Thau, Colonel USAF. (retired)
