Bicycles were a good form of transportation, your effectively doubling if not tripling the speed of your infanty. Good for scouting or getting infanty to a certain point without the use of much needed trucks or cars.

I have biked in the ‘Low Countries’. I can attest to the fact that the roads are decent and almost completely flat. Perfect land for fast moving bike transport.
