German Cemetery
Yet another German cemetery (Soviet Union). Photo is unmarked as to date & caption. Say what you will about the Germans but when they had the time they honored their fallen with dignity and respect. As we know as soon as the Soviets over-ran a German cemetery it was immediately desecrated and all identifying features of the dead were scattered and/or stolen. Stalin was convinced that the Germans after the war would have no memorials for Germans to come & mourn their dead. I guess it's hard to blame the Soviets for this attitude.
