Came on this looking for something else. Haven’t bothered going beyond the link or seeing if it’s been posted before as it’s not my field of interest, but may interest others. Could equally well fit in German Military section.
I have heard about sometimes German fighters would do these kinds of things. I read a book once and there was a sole chapter about how opposing forces would sometimes help each other out. It’s a really interesting subject

Thats an awesome story. I salute both of them brave warriors. Reminds me when I met and American P-51 pilot and a German ME-262 pilot who had been shot down by the P-51 pilot but when I met them in 1995 they had reunited with each other and were good friends. Ron
Mate of mine used to fly gliders down here in the 1980s. Club members included a former WWII fighter pilot from Britain and a former WWII fighter pilot from Germany, who got talking one day and realised that they might have been in same air battle. Brought in their log books next time and found they had been, but had no way of knowing if they’d actually fought each other. Not exactly good friends, but got on together quite amicably.
