German medium tanks on the roll

German Pz.Kpfw. IV medium tanks in the field on the territory of the USSR, probably sometime in summer..

These are Panzer IV Ausfuehrung G tanks with the KwK 40 L/43 75 mm. gun. A total of 1,687 vehicles were produced from May, 1942 to June, 1943 by Krupp-Gruson, Vomag and Nibelungenwerke. The first 1.275 model G tanks had the L/43 gun and from March, 1943, the rest had the longer L/48. Thus this photo probably dates from 1942.

I don’t know the panzers that well, but I concur that 1941 was too early for some of the long gun Mk IV’s…
