The German invasion troops were welcomed by ethnic Germans in Poland. And the ethnic Germans of Poland benefited in that they were permitted to acquire Polish properties and oversee Polish nationals in running these properties. Of course, if they didn’t move west with the retreating forces in 1945, they reaped the whirlwind.
