The German Luftwaffe (air force) started to use the Splittertarn pattern (e.g. for paratrooper coats) by 1941. The army (Heer) introduced regular camo uniforms in summer 1942. Waffen-SS respectively SS-Verfügungstruppe units started using Platanenmuster (plane tree pattern) in late 1937.
