Good idea, let’s include English/American as well. I still don’t know what a “seabee” is.
Word derived from CB, standing for US Construction Battalion.
And contrary to the expectation that a US battalion would be in the US Army, they were actually in the US Navy, usually following the Marines in a landing to build whatever was necessary.
They did sterling work in the Pacific in constructing airfields, roads, docks and so on, close to the fighting front or at it, such as at Henderson Field on Guadalcanal where they were critical to the US air effort in repairing airstrips bombed by the Japanese.
Thanks for clearing that up. So the “sea” is actually ambiguous.
