Grave adoption

Hello everybody,

We are a family from the Netherlands and we have adopted several graves from American soldiers who died in WWII.
They are burried at Cemetery’s in the Netherlands and Belgium.

We recieved and found information but we are still looking for more information.
Today we recieved the Certificate of Adoption of Gregory Thomas, his rang was Pvt, his servicenumber 42183515, date of death 14 april 1945, state New York,
Unit, 10 INF BN 4 ARMD DIV.
We have no futher information. Who has more information and could help us?
And INF is Infantry division (correct?), what does BN mean? (battaljon?) and 4 armd is 4th Armored Division?
Who has more information about this Unit?

10 INF BN = 10th Infantry Battalion
4 ARMD DIV = 4th Armoured Division

US Armoured divisions of the time consisted of 3 x Infantry Battalions, 3 x Tank Battalions and 3 x Artillery Battalions. http://www.bayonetstrength.150m.com/toe/armoured/us_armored_rifle_company.htm has an example Table of Organisation and Equipment for an Armoured Infantry Battalion of the time.

Note: From the ABMC website, his name is Gregory Thomas - your post above is a little unclear, and there is a Thomas Gregory buried at the Madingley cemetery in the UK!

Maybe we can find more in Google now we know it is Battaljon en Divison.

There is a listing for Gregory Thomas in the Queens Co. NYarchives, Military. He enlisted (or was drafted, I’m guessing) in New York City, NY on October 6, 1944 and had no official branch, so I’m assuming he was assigned to the infantry. He was born in 1920 and probably was from NYC or from the surrounding area…
