Greek communist partisans

Athens, Greece: Photo taken in December 1944 in Athens, during the World War II of communist partisans being arrested. British troops entered Athens 14 October 1944, two months before the civil war began in Greece. The civil war was only an argument between the Soviet Union (communists) and USA and Britain (republicans). These three countries were fighting for supremacy through the Greeks. The Americans gave weapons to republican and Soviet railroad the communists to fight. The civil war of Greece caused more damage psychologically to the greeks than the Germans and that lasts till today

Not only the Soviet Union supported the communist side but also Yugoslavia for example.

The Soviet involvement was a MYTH. Endeed Stalin refused to support the greeks , followed the agreement in Yalta conference between him and CHurchill ( USSR-10% , UK-90% in Greece). The more essential help , including by the wearpon provided Tito’s yugoslavs and albanians. Howevere it was insignificant against the british and american troops ( after 1947) directly involved into conflict. The communsit fought desperative but were alone and doomed against monarchists who had the US/UK army behind it’s back.

Chevan is right, Stalin wanted to rispect the shares done af Yalta. But not only Yugoslavia and Albania helped communists, Bulgaria too. The red Albanian army had a little involvement too in the matter.
