So today, in 1776 (If i remember right) evil rebels against the fair monarch George Mk.III wrote some stuff on parchment and sent it to London. That caused a bloddy war which took away a rightful colony of the UK.

I might have misunderstood what you intended as humour, but I don’t think it’s fair to make flippant comments about U.S. soldiers fighting for oil.
Neocons and other idiots like Dubya might have had that as their strategic aim in bogging the US down in Iraq, but the poor bloody soldiers there are just serving their country.
They’re just doing what soldiers have done down the ages, which is advancing the, sometimes national, interests determined by politicians, and bearing the real human costs and getting bugger all benefit from it while the politicians and the interests they represent derive the real benefits in money terms from the blood and flesh and family and mental and other injuries the poor bloody grunts bear, often for a lifetime, in the service of their nation. As determined by the rich and powerful.
