Was part of the hurricane made out of wood or was it completely metal?

All metall, maybe the corrugated skin in the rear look like wood but it wasnt

Yep, as far as I understand the entire inner framework was metal, and the outer skin was metal at the front and canvas at the rear, with the wings being a mixture of both…

The Hurricane took much longer to construct than a Spitfire, but it was easier to repair…

Hawker Hurricane was a fighter of an era, between the biplanes and sleek fighters.
-It could not evolve from its original chassis and thus was not used as a prime fighter after opening years of war.(but it could be used as ground attack roles which kept it in its wings)

It had a very thick wing structure which slowed it down, and engine had a habit to burst into flames after a hit, thus earning a nickname of `tulipallo´(fireball).

And much cheaper than the Spitfire.
Hawker learned nothing from making the wing too thick, they did it again in the Typhoon, which turned out about 100km/h slower than Hawker expected.

Great thread thanks Clave.

I’m very interested in the Hurricane. Stumbling upon your post motivated me to join the forum.

I recruited someone?!

I’m just a new boy myself, but I try and drop in every now and then, there is a lot of interesting stuff to read, and I haven’t even scratched the surface…
