Help Identifying the patch on this helmet....

…would anyone know the unit of this patch? I do not think it is Canadian.

Not sure…the helmet looks similar to a german paratrooper helmet.

Cant say for sure thou.

Definitely a para helmet (looks very much like the one still in use with the British Army), but I’m not sure if that badge is British, I think all of our airborne units wore the Pegasus.

Is this a vintage WWII helmet or something recent? I ask because the white borders on that patch are very clean. I would think that by now, the patch would be very dirty.

Good point. If it is from WW2 its been very well taken care of.

After doing a bit of searching … im pretty sure its not German. The screw is much to low. If you have some more pick of the other side or inside of the helmet please post. My guess at the moment is that it is a post ww2 british helmet.

I would try the Poles Mario.

I am looking now, but I think that is a Polish insignia.

Edit to add.

From the one picture you’ve put up, I’m pretty sure it is a British/Commonwealth style hemet.

Exclusive Red and White emblems were often used by the poles, and there was a whole Brigade of Airbourne poles.

Don’t know why, I just have this feeling, that says Polish.

Still looking.

You can’t not put this up!!! Sorry Mario for hijackin gyour thread!!!

This picture shows actual vetrans of Op Market Garden who jumped AGAIN to celebrate the 60th anniversary!!!

3 Jumped solo, and 8 were attached to members of the Red Devils, The parachute display team of the Parachute Regiment/16 Air Assault Bde.

Quote from www.airbornemuseum.org/.../ 5/intro5.htm

Ten British and one Polish veteran between 79 and 85 years made a jump. Three solo and eight accompanied.

Was going to suggest the Polish Airborne Briagde myself

Look at these:

the 553 link looks pretty similar. So think we have to say its a post WW2 varient of the British version. But the insignia could be from anywhere. I tried looking for the insignia on google but didnt find anything. I believe the sword guard is z shaped. Either that or the helmet was knocked hard and slide a portion of the white towards the top.

the kind of helmet also looks like:

Mº Circa-1

an Argentine national old helmet for paratroopers

Are there any markings inside the helmet, Mario? Date of manufacture? A name even!!!

I’m still stumped…I can’t find any reference to this unit patch. Here are 2 more images.

Well you defiantly know what year it is .

1955, obviously not WW2 vintage then!!! And thus not Polish. They would have had Russian style helmets by then, or the sticker was added later.

What else is written around the date? There is a bit more that is not quite visiable in pictures.

The liner doesn`t look British either, but at the moment I have no access to my reference library, since I´m currently living in temporary accomodation 160 km away from my place due to a new job.
