Home made range in a Belgian POW camp (Offlag)

In POW camps, officers were not supposed to work for Germany, (Geneva Convention) but were fed with much parcimony, they were appreciating cans sent by family, red cross, USA gov etc. They did not throw the empty cans away but made with them ovens, ranges. The latter were burning newspaper with an extraordinary efficiency : it seems a paper page could boil a liter of water.
